We have received a report that one of the residents in the community has had her car broken into last night. Please remember to keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
Call either 911 (in-progress crime, prowler in a back yard) or 577-7434 for Charleston Police dispatch line. The same dispatchers answer both lines, right here at CPD. Cell phones may get County dispatchers, the effect is the same. (If you live in Sheriff's jurisdiction call 911, or 202-1700 for the administrative line)
Suspicious Activity to Call About:
1. Someone loitering or wandering aimlessly, on foot or a bicycle
2. Anyone staring at a home or looking into a parked car
3. Anyone ringing or knocking at your door with unreasonable or odd explanation
4. Someone running from a car, home, or business
5. Sound of breaking glass or breaking wood
6. Persons walking around the neighborhood with items which may have been stolen
7. Strange vehicles passing through or parked with occupants
